Netball and Outdoor School

Lake Bonavista School is participating in netball from May 8th until May 16th in our gymnasium. This sport involves foundational movement skills such as jumping, running, throwing, and catching. As described on the Netball Alberta website (www.netballalberta.com): “Netball is an exciting, fast and skillful game of fair contest: It is a game in which two teams of seven players each strive to keep or gain possession of the ball. Players have specified areas in which they can move.”  

 

Parent Council has graciously provided the funding to bring this event into our school.  

 

Consent forms will be sent home with your child.  Please sign and return the forms so your child is able to participate in this fun LBS event! Forms are DUE WEDNESDAY, MAY 3, 2023!

Reminder as well that Outdoor School forms are due back on Friday May 5th, which is a PD day, so for your convenience, you likely want to send them in with your child on Thursday May 4th.

 Hello Room 17 families,  This week we have been working on word problems involving patterning. Students have been discussing and using different strategies in order to solve a variety of problems. In language arts, we have been looking at letter writing. We have been distinguishing the different features and uses of letters, looking particularly at formal vs. informal letters. Winter Concert

 In math we did: adding and subtracting fractions. gr. 6 did it with uncommon denomanators. in L.A we did: we wrote alliteration, acrostic and cincquian poetry. in science we did: Gr 6's did trees and forest research and the Gr.5's did wetlands research. in social we did: Gr.5's reasearched the indegenous people of canada Gr. 6's learned about iroquois people and the roles of women and athens and the people of the iroquois. we made fathers day cards. we also had...  SPORTS DAY!!!!!!! we spent an hour and a half doing activities that the teachers set up. (we were the backstreet bingus) and then we did a teachers vs Gr.6 kickball game in which the teachers won.
