 In math we did: adding and subtracting fractions. gr. 6 did it with uncommon denomanators. in L.A we did: we wrote alliteration, acrostic and cincquian poetry. in science we did: Gr 6's did trees and forest research and the Gr.5's did wetlands research. in social we did: Gr.5's reasearched the indegenous people of canada Gr. 6's learned about iroquois people and the roles of women and athens and the people of the iroquois. we made fathers day cards. we also had...  SPORTS DAY!!!!!!! we spent an hour and a half doing activities that the teachers set up. (we were the backstreet bingus) and then we did a teachers vs Gr.6 kickball game in which the teachers won.

 We had a lot of work this week - in science we did: Gr 6's did loads of work finishing up their trees and forests we also wrapped up our air and aerodynamics. Gr 5's did a lot of research on wetlands, they had to study one and then make a slideshow or a poster about one type of wetland. In math, we had an assesment on adding and subtracting fractions. In social the gr 6's did a lot of work on the iroquois confediracy

The yearbook is created by parent volunteers for your children to enjoy, and proceeds from sales support school council in offering great opportunities for our students.  Hello room 17 families! We have had a busy couple of weeks! The students had an amazing week last week at outdoor school. We had a great time exploring the forest, learning skills such as fire and shelter building, engaging in games around economics and the food chain, participating in cooperative challenges and creative tasks. It was an wonderful week of learning and fun! This week, we wrapped up our 'Student Vote'. Students worked in groups to research the different parties, their leader, and the local candidate. We engaged in discussions, watched debates, and heard party leaders answer questions posed by students. Finally students were able to vote on the candidate they felt alligned most with their 'political views'.  In Science, we continued learning about Trees and Forests, spending lots of time looking at trees and leaves, sketching them, labelling the different parts and classifying them based on learned characteristics.
