 Hello Room 17 families,  This week we have been working on word problems involving patterning. Students have been discussing and using different strategies in order to solve a variety of problems. In language arts, we have been looking at letter writing. We have been distinguishing the different features and uses of letters, looking particularly at formal vs. informal letters. We also went on a walking field trip each day. We are working on building our walking stamina, as well as learning various journaling techniques. This is helping to prepare us for our week long field trip to City Hall school coming up in a couple of weeks, where we will be walking around downtown and journaling to share our ideas and learning.  In social studies we have been learning about the 4 pillars of democracy: equity, freedom, justice, and representation. Book Fair- March 6-13

  Dear families,     Mark your calendars! The fun and excitement of a Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school again during Student Led Conferences! To adapt to our changing needs, Scholastic has developed a   Hybrid Book Fair (in-school with a virtual link)   to provide an opportunity for our students and families to experience the joy of reading together.     So, save the date! November 4th

Hello Room 17 families,  On Monday it was Halloween, we had to complete a Halloween escape room challenge to get our November pencil. We also had our Halloween parade and were excited to see so many parents come out to join in the fun.  We started some new art this week for Remembrance Day. We are making a field of poppies.  In math we have continued working on patterning with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and have been turning our patterns into a line graphs.  In science, we have been looking at different prints for our evidence and investigation unit. We investigated animal prints, and human prints including looking at shoe size, and shoe prints. We made a chart of classroom shoes based on different characteristics.  In writing we have been learning about informal letters. We wrote a letter to a friend or family member about our Halloween.
