To adapt to our changing needs, Scholastic has developed a Hybrid Book Fair (in-school with a virtual link) to provide an opportunity for our students and families to experience the joy of reading together. This week in math we have been working on Order of Operations; using BEDMAS to help us remember the order we need to complete each mathematical operation. Grade 5s have been learning how brackets affect the equations, grade 6s have been working with exponents, along with some grade 5s who wanted a challenge. In writing, we have been writing biographies of historical Canadian figures. Students have been completing research on their chosen individual, taking jot notes, and then drafting their biographies. Students have been self-editing, peer editing and receiving teacher feedback to support them in working through their writing. In social studies, Grade 6s have been working on reading provided texts to answering questions on Ancient Athens; Grade 5s have been completing research and creating presentations on regions within Canada.
