 Hello Room 17 families,

It has been a fantastic week in our class this week. We have continued to look at place value in math and have been solving problems using our knowledge. In writing we started working on creating paragraphs- we looked at transition words and use them to help us organize example paragraphs as well as create our own.

We spent lots of time talking about truth and reconciliation day coming up tomorrow and orange shirt day. We had an assembly today for orange shirt day and then spent time talking as a class about what we can do to work towards reconciliation and support indigenous peoples who are struggling.

We also started some art based around the indigenous book 'I am not a Fox' by Danielle Daniel, students are picking animals whose indigenous traits they connect with the most and creating a piece of mosaic art using the donated magazines. If you have magazines to donate at home I know they would be helpful in helping to continue working on this art next week.

We went on a walking field trip today to connect with the land and immerse ourselves in nature. Students were able to pick a sit spot and create some amazing journaling using their sense of sight as well as sense of hearing. Ask them what they sketched!

Remember PICTURE DAY is coming up on this Monday, October 3rd. Come in a snazzy outfit and ready to smile pretty!
